外國(guó)語學(xué)院簡(jiǎn)介
西昌學(xué)院外國(guó)語學(xué)院前身為1986年創(chuàng)建的西昌師范高等?？茖W(xué)校外語系，距今有30余年辦學(xué)歷程，培養(yǎng)高素質(zhì)應(yīng)用型外語人才。
開設(shè)英語、翻譯、商務(wù)英語三個(gè)本科專業(yè)。面向全國(guó)十九個(gè)省、自治區(qū)、直轄市招生?，F(xiàn)有全日制在校生1000余人，全日制本?？飘厴I(yè)生12000余人。
現(xiàn)有教職工65人，其中教授2人，副教授13人，博士6人，碩士研究生43人，在讀博士1人，四川省教學(xué)指導(dǎo)委員會(huì)1人，10余人有美國(guó)、英國(guó)、澳大利亞、新西蘭、韓國(guó)、日本、泰國(guó)等海外留學(xué)教學(xué)經(jīng)歷。
建有語言實(shí)驗(yàn)室、虛擬仿真實(shí)訓(xùn)室、自主學(xué)習(xí)中心、同聲傳譯實(shí)驗(yàn)室、計(jì)算機(jī)輔助翻譯實(shí)訓(xùn)室和英語教學(xué)調(diào)頻廣播電臺(tái)，在無錫、重慶、成都、攀枝花、西昌等地建立了多個(gè)師范、商貿(mào)、翻譯實(shí)習(xí)實(shí)訓(xùn)基地。

學(xué)生多人次在全國(guó)大學(xué)生英語競(jìng)賽、全國(guó)CCTV杯英語演講大賽四川賽區(qū)、外研社杯大學(xué)生英語挑戰(zhàn)賽四川賽區(qū)、海峽兩岸口譯大賽等活動(dòng)中獲獎(jiǎng)。2007年以來，已有200余人考取了北京外國(guó)語大學(xué)、上海外國(guó)語大學(xué)、廣東外語外貿(mào)大學(xué)、四川外國(guó)語大學(xué)、四川大學(xué)、吉林大學(xué)等知名高校碩士研究生。
外國(guó)語學(xué)院不斷完善畢業(yè)生就業(yè)工作機(jī)制，拓寬就業(yè)渠道，畢業(yè)生足跡遍及海內(nèi)外,受到了用人單位的廣泛贊譽(yù)。

School of Foreign Languages
The Foreign Languages Department of Xichang Teachers College set up in 1986, transformed now into the School of Foreign Languages of Xichang?University, has cultivated many high-quality foreign language talents for the society.
The School currently offers three undergraduate programs, namely, English, English Translation, and Business English. At present, there are more than?1,000 full-time students from 19 provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities, and over 12,000 full-time students have successfully graduated from the School of Foreign Languages.
The School has more than 65 faculty and staff (including 2 professors,13 associated professors and 6 doctors), over 70% of whom have mater degree and some are working towards a Ph.D. More than 10 faculty have furthered their study as visiting scholars or graduated from universities in the U.S., Britain, Australia and, New Zealand, Korea, and Japan.
Additionally, the School also has a number of laboratories including virtual simulation lab, simultaneous interpretation training lab, self-learning center, language lab for classroom teaching, computer aided translation training room and FM radio station for English teaching, and also has established several training bases for teacher-training, business and translation practice in Wuxi, Chongqing, Chengdu, Panzhihua, Xichang and other places.
Many students have won awards in the National English Competition for College Students, the CCTV Cup English Speech Contest in Sichuan, FLTRP Cup English Challenge for College Students in Sichuan, Cross-Straits Interpreting Contest and other activities. Since 2007, more than 160 students have been admitted to master degree programs in Beijing Foreign Studies University, Shanghai International Studies University, Guangdong University of Foreign Studies, Sichuan International Studies University, Sichuan University, Jilin University and other well-known universities.
The School of Foreign Languages has been constantly improving the employment mechanism of graduates and expanding the employment channels. The graduates have been all over the world and won wide praise from employers.
